Black & White Sunday: Pup Takeover

Myfie: Hey guys 😀 It’s Myfie here
Ellie: And Me!
Millie: And most impawtantly, me!… do you see what I did there?

Myfie: Yeah hilarious, but I am in charge today! My idea and I’m the boss. So there, shush! Where was I?
Ellie: You were trying to sound clever.
Millie: He IS clever, Ellie. The cleverest… I ❤ you, Myfie.
Ellie: *Yawn* Can you just get on with it if you’re gonna do this please?

Myfie: Yeah so… Hi! Mum hasn’t posted for a long time
Millie: And we were worried our fans missed us!
Myfie: Ahem… No, we missed YOU guys in blogville and we wondered what you were all up to? Mum is being reeaaallly lazy just lately, and sulking loads
Ellie: MYFIE!! That’s so mean, you can’t say that!
Myfie: Well that’s what it’s looked like to me!

Ellie: Mum has been poorly, and she’s worried she’s let everybody down and she’s been a bit sad recently.
Millie: Tell them how ace we are though. We’ve been looking after her and everything for ZERO PUBLICITY.
Ellie: That’s our job, Millie! Our job is to love, that’s all.
Myfie: So what about the work in the Shed!?
Ellie: That’s… we do that because it’s fun! And if mum sells loads of collars, she’ll buy us many Dentastix (other brands are available 😉 )
Millie: I need to speak to my agent!

Myfie: Right so anyway, since mum has been ‘poorly’ and what not, we thought we’d just take to our paws and do this thing ourselves. And to be perfectly honest, we’ll do a much better job. We know how this thing works by now!
Millie: You’re so right, I ❤ you, Myfie. You’re the only thing I love more than myself.

Millie: Here’s my selfie…
Myfie & Ellie: NOT YET!!!

millie blogger

Millie: Why not?? Too many words without a picture of me! mum wouldn’t do it like this!
Myfie: Well it should have been ME first, I’m the writer!!
Ellie: Don’t mean to sound like a know-it-all but you should have put it at the top. I thought you said this was easy and you could do better?
Myfie: Know-it-all!

Myfie: Here I am, some sort of annoying stain next to me though. :p

Myfie Ellie Bloggers

Ellie: HEY! I wasn’t ready.
Myfie: Hehehehe. Can we have a treat now? This is done, right?
Ellie: Who’s gonna do THAT? Mum doesn’t even know we are doing this!
Myfie: I didn’t think of that 😦 … what was the POINT!? I’m outta here!
Millie: At least people got to see my our pretty face faces!

Myfie: Come on! Let’s go make big eyes at mum so we get treats anyway!
Millie: You’re a genius, Myfie. I ❤ you!

*Myfie and Millie, gone like a herd of elephants*

Ellie: OI! WE AREN’T DONE!! What about the editing and the posting and stuff??

Myfie: *from afar* Pah ha! You snooze, you lose!! Make sure my name is BIG!!

Ellie: *grumble, grumble*

2014 in review

Oh lookie here!! Not a smidgen as impressive as some of the others we have seen, but we were grateful to find this hidden (by another 234, 556,325 emails) in our inbox! We have had such a great year blogging and you’ll know from previous posts that we really count 2014 as being our first year! We’ve made so many beautiful new friends and are grateful for each and every one of ya!! Here’s to more fun in 2015!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 5,500 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.

#FlashbackFriday: Where, Oh Where Have We Been?

Pawed_Couture_Dogs_Christmas

My goodness! I don’t think any of us realised we had been gone for quite so many weeks! We have missed Blogville so much and would like to thank those of you that left supportive messages for us, wishing us luck with the Craft Fairs!
We will be replying very soon. Until then though, we thought we should pop our noses in and say ‘Hi’ and let those of you who are interested know just where we’ve been all this time!

As you may have read, it was our very first Craft Fair this December, and we were all mightily nervous about it. Personally, I wasn’t bothered if we didn’t sell a thing… it was all about getting the experience under my belt. I am so much more comfortable behind a computer screen, but being out there in the big wide world I find a little daunting. Also, I had to go it alone (well, that’s not strictly true I had a very good friend who was selling her wares alongside of me), but what I mean is, without the pups! It turns out that even though they happen to be staff members… they aren’t allowed to come along! Which we all found a little rude.

Fortunately though, Myfie came up with the genius idea of taking ‘Bob’ along. So I dressed him up in all the festive finery that we created and he became my partner in crime for the weekend.

Pawed_Couture_Dog

He was very well behaved, but was a little shy with the customers.

I really had to fight an inner struggle not to cancel the fair all together, but in the end we made it. I took some pictures of our stall to show you. We had some nightmares with the banner, so please don’t pay too much close attention to that. It is still being resolved, but I am sure we will get there in the end.

I was quite happy with how it was all set up in the end, and even did a last minute Fair at a second venue on the Sunday!
So by the end of that weekend, I had three events behind me and I managed to pick up some great tips and experience along the way.

The Fairs were on the weekend of December 6, before and after this day I did a little bit of crafting for my own pups. I decided it would be a great idea to make them some Advent Calendar Bunting. Which, of course starts December 1… so BEFORE THE FAIR!! Eek.
I’d also never even done one single blanket stitch up until this point… great idea, Carrie. It’s not like you have enough pressure on yourself… why don’t you find something massively time-consuming to do in your spare time *eye roll*

Anyway, I did do it and despite messing up the numbers right at the end (if you can name some method to try, I probably did… and I probably messed it up) I was pretty pleased with the final result. Most importantly, the pups were happy with it… or rather they were happy with the special seasonal Delibakies I placed in each pocket.

It turns out this was a genius idea on my part. The pups have been none too impressed by how much I have been out and about of late. I’ve been to a few places where they aren’t welcome to join me, so some daily apologies in the shape of tasty morsels have gone down quite well.

Just after the fairs I was excited to find out the Coca Cola trucks were stopping by our town. Nothing signifies the arrival of the festive period more than the #HolidaysAreComing Coke ads does it?
I have to say though, there was a distinct lack of lights on this truck, it didn’t resemble the ones used in the adverts much but, well, it did help me to feel that little bit more festive. I could have taken the pups this time, but really I think they would have been a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people, and I don’t reckon they would have been impressed by the truck much either! Possibly Myfie if he could have gotten close enough to cock his leg up against it…

Pawed_Couture_Milllie

Back in September we won a giveaway on Facebook from a company called Lillie and Millie, and this week we received our beautiful cards and notelets. I had just finished making the girls some festive hair bows and (MY) Millie was so proud that she matched her little illustrated self, she posed happily for a snap. Ellie, is happy with her hair bow too (even if she forgot to tell her face that) and I think they both look adorable.

Pawed_Couture_Handmade-bows

I’m hoping to fashion Myfie a matching bow tie before the big day and I’ll be sure to keep everybody posted now we are ready to snuggle on back into Blogville.

All that remains for us to do now is to… err… get ready for Christmas! Yay! In just a few days!… Ahem. What can I say? we like a challenge!

Are you all ready? Are you excited? Will Santa Paws be visiting your house this year?

Thanks so much for being patient with us and reading through this stupidly long post. We wish each and every one of you a VERY Merry Christmas x

Eek…and we’re off!

Firstly, I would like to apologise for not being around much this week. The truth is the last couple have been mega (does anybody say that word anymore?) busy and stressful. Some of you may know I have been working hard to get my little shop launched… and it’s been absolutely terrifying! HA.
I am nowhere near the excited and comfortable phase yet, but I hope that will come with confidence and time.

Earlier in the week I announced the winning name for the collar-naming competition I had. Here it is:

Hello my name is

Clever huh? Thanks so much to those of you who either added a name here or popped over to my Facebook page to enter. Every suggestion meant so much to me!

Then on Wednesday, October 1st I launched my actual shop over on Etsy!

Pawed_Now_Open_Etsy

I won’t spam you all here with the individual pics, but if you do want to come over and take a look… here is our little portion of that huge market place: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PawedCouture

I was so lucky that within the first hour of announcing the shop open, I received my very first online order.

I do have plans already buzzing around my head for lots of new products and I won’t JUST be selling on Etsy, but… one step at a time, one paw in front of the other, right?

The pups have been an amazing comfort throughout this process, bless their furry little hearts and they make an appearance over there too, in their tester gear. It would be rude not to, wouldn’t it?

I just wanted to thank everybody here for their support and encouragement. I will try to keep you all updated, but the most important thing is… We’ll be back with more pup pics swifter than the wag of Millie’s tail! (which is really fast btw 😉 )

Hugs,
Carrie, Myfie, Ellie and Millie ❤

House of Pawed: A long-overdue update

shedpano

Since I wrote this post (House of Pawed) a long, long time ago work has been slow and steady in my Shedquarters. There’s been tears, lots of tantrums and plenty of unseen obstacles to overcome. I won’t bore you with them all, but should you ever have aspirations to take your work outside into a temporary building… think long and hard about it. It sounds easy, and is anything but.

I still have some things that need doing in there, but they are just little finishing touches I hope to add over time. For now it’s pretty much a blank canvas, but it IS finished and I AM able to be working in there… finally! Just in time for summer though, so if I had planned it that way I would be pretty happy with myself… I can pretend!

le shed

Yes, it’s pink and white… it does look a little like a Wendy House for a giants child. But I couldn’t leave it brown now could I?

Let’s look inside…

dooredt

Plenty of shelves and cubby holes with not very much in them… that won’t last!

deskedt

Neither will how clean and tidy this desk looks!

unitedt

The most important thing in this picture is the little Scottie, who watches over me!

tableedt

And this is another ‘action station’ where cutting, measuring and swearing will take place.

So, as you can see, it’s pretty plain for now and I am going to need to adorn my walls with inspiration and my floor with mess. But until then, the absolute BEST bit about my little space is that I get regular visits from my ins’paw’ational trio.

snifferdogs

Alright, they mainly come for a sniff about and to be nosy.
It’s a tiny little space but I also intend for them to have somewhere to settle in here with me if they like.

ellohello

Yes, Ellie… for you!

What do you think? Have I missed anything essential?

x

Wishing you all a VERY Merry Christmas

PicMonkey Collage

We just wanted to take this opportunity to say that we hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We have enjoyed meeting so many of you this year and look forward to that continuing in the New Year!

House of Pawed?

Ellie and Millie have moved in already

Ellie and Millie have moved in already

I’ve been absent a lot for the last few months. But I have been busy; my business plans seem to have come full circle within that time and I can actually feel myself teetering on the edge of something now. It’s really scary, but incredibly exciting at the same time. I didn’t expect the whole process of starting a business to actually teach me anything about myself, but it has. Some good, some not so good; but mostly a whole lot of stuff to work on … hurray! … ahem!

Anyway, one of the major things that became apparent was that I actually needed ‘somewhere’ to make my makes. There are various, very good reasons why a room inside my home wasn’t going to cut it; one of the main reasons being that there isn’t much ‘room’. While discussing this with friends, I had lighthearted suggestions thrown at me such as “put a table in the garden” or “do it in your car”.  A most helpful circle of friends you can see! Though, actually, upon researching a little online I discovered just how many people are doing just that! … not sitting in their cars, or directly in the garden but creating their very own ‘shedquarters’ – madness!!…

Until you really start to think about it, and then become obsessed with the idea and then my garden is quite big; I could paint it pink, it could look like a little house, the dog house (heehee). No, too common, Pawed House, no … HOUSE OF PAWED!! I’ll just have a little look on Pinterest. Before I know it, I’ve sold my car, had my garden measured up and I am booking workmen to get the thing moving.

If only it had been that fast though! The fact is a few months down the line, I’m not ready for moving in yet and there’s still so much work to do before I can. But, the good news is: there’s less work to DO than has already been DONE! (EDIT: This was a bare-faced lie! Fooling myself, much?)

Now … I just need the weather to stay nice, until I can get it finished 🙂

Myfie isn't as sure as the girls ... that step's kinda big!
