Eek…and we’re off!

Firstly, I would like to apologise for not being around much this week. The truth is the last couple have been mega (does anybody say that word anymore?) busy and stressful. Some of you may know I have been working hard to get my little shop launched… and it’s been absolutely terrifying! HA.
I am nowhere near the excited and comfortable phase yet, but I hope that will come with confidence and time.

Earlier in the week I announced the winning name for the collar-naming competition I had. Here it is:

Hello my name is

Clever huh? Thanks so much to those of you who either added a name here or popped over to my Facebook page to enter. Every suggestion meant so much to me!

Then on Wednesday, October 1st I launched my actual shop over on Etsy!

I won’t spam you all here with the individual pics, but if you do want to come over and take a look… here is our little portion of that huge market place: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PawedCouture

I was so lucky that within the first hour of announcing the shop open, I received my very first online order.

I do have plans already buzzing around my head for lots of new products and I won’t JUST be selling on Etsy, but… one step at a time, one paw in front of the other, right?

The pups have been an amazing comfort throughout this process, bless their furry little hearts and they make an appearance over there too, in their tester gear. It would be rude not to, wouldn’t it?

I just wanted to thank everybody here for their support and encouragement. I will try to keep you all updated, but the most important thing is… We’ll be back with more pup pics swifter than the wag of Millie’s tail! (which is really fast btw 😉 )

Name Our Collar

Pawed Collar Competition

We are getting dangerously close to launch day here at Pawed Towers!

This post is a little bit of shameless self-promotion (well I do feel a tad shameful, actually but..). How would you feel about having one of our collars, the one above, in fact, named after YOUR favourite furry friend? Or, maybe, you look at the pattern and a name just jumps out at you that you would like to share with us?

We are asking for submissions via Facebook up until Sunday at midnight (GMT) and would just love it if you popped on over to join us! You can’t miss the post, it’s pinned right to the top of the page!
We are still finding our feet over there so would ❤ to see some friendly faces https://www.facebook.com/PawedCouture

Of course if you would like to and you haven’t already you can also find us on Twitter, on Instagram and on Pinterest too. We’d love to see you!

Hugs and loves,

Myfie, Ellie and Millie ❤

Black & White Sunday: On The Fence

three peep

The garden where the Pawed Shedquarters lives gets really boggy and soggy when it rains. It’s felt really autumnal here of late, and those of you who read my post a couple of weeks back will know that, for me, that’s something to celebrate. For the pups though… not so much. Oh they prefer it being cooler of course. Being cooler, generally means more rain around these parts though. And more rain means the garden becomes a swamp! The garden becoming a swamp means that they can’t come in… and that produces the faces you see here in my pictures today.

peepo ellie

Pathetic isn’t it? They look like stills from a dog charity campaign.
The truth is though, they don’t actually WANT to be in the garden. They don’t like soggy paws as much as we don’t like them having them.
They won’t stay in the shed with me, otherwise you know I would carry them down there. Well, Millie might but then the other two would get upset. *sigh*

fence necklace

There’s nothing else for it, I have to make them prisoners of the driveway! I swear it is harder on me than it is on them,  if you think their faces look upsetting… you should hear the noise!
They do eventually give up and go inside though, poor little lambs. They can see the shed from there by sitting on the back of the sofa and looking through the window.

4 at gate
And as soon as I am done and make my way down the path I am greeted by my very own itty-bitty (OK actually reeaaally fuzzy and in need of a hair cute that IS happening this week) welcoming committee!
All is forgiven. But I best give them a treat to make doubly sure!

Is there something that you do that sometimes your furry best friend can’t be a part of, do you recognise these expressions?

Black & White Sunday: Team Work

ellie patrol

I’m not making it up when I address my business posts (business seems a bit grand at the moment, but you know what I mean) as ‘we’ and ‘us’. I know some people who work alone like to do so to make them look grander in some way, and there’s nothing wrong with that, of course. However, most of you know  that when I say it, I am talking about the pups and I.
They aren’t employees, but they ARE team members. They are paid in treats, love and attention and they pay me back with the same (though their idea of giving a treat is somewhat different to mine).

I’ve spent a lot of time in the shed this week and that means that all pups are also on duty. Ellie (pictured above) likes to patrol the premises. She’s Security, if you like. She can often be heard barking away intruders… and anybody else that dares to pass by anauthorised.

Myfie is Supervisor. He supervises what everybody else is doing and can do this with his eyes closed and snoring, too! He’s a talented pup.
He is also very fashion conscious, and so he has the role of Chief Product Tester. If it looks good on him, it’ll look good on any pup… apparently.
He’s also the scruffiest and most boisterous (don’t tell him I said that) which is perfect for seeing how the things I make stand up to heavy wear and tear!

And last, but not least, there is Millie. She is Time and Motion Analyst and Head of Entertainment. This basically means she makes sure each of us have regular breaks by bugging us until we stop whatever we are doing, for a cuddle or a play. The teeth mean she means business.

All very important jobs, for very important pups. Though, the jobs that they have which are most valuable, they don’t even know they have. They are my inspiration, motivation and unwavering support network. I couldn’t do this without them.

House of Pawed: A long-overdue update

Since I wrote this post (House of Pawed) a long, long time ago work has been slow and steady in my Shedquarters. There’s been tears, lots of tantrums and plenty of unseen obstacles to overcome. I won’t bore you with them all, but should you ever have aspirations to take your work outside into a temporary building… think long and hard about it. It sounds easy, and is anything but.

I still have some things that need doing in there, but they are just little finishing touches I hope to add over time. For now it’s pretty much a blank canvas, but it IS finished and I AM able to be working in there… finally! Just in time for summer though, so if I had planned it that way I would be pretty happy with myself… I can pretend!

le shed

Yes, it’s pink and white… it does look a little like a Wendy House for a giants child. But I couldn’t leave it brown now could I?

Let’s look inside…

Plenty of shelves and cubby holes with not very much in them… that won’t last!

Neither will how clean and tidy this desk looks!

The most important thing in this picture is the little Scottie, who watches over me!

And this is another ‘action station’ where cutting, measuring and swearing will take place.

So, as you can see, it’s pretty plain for now and I am going to need to adorn my walls with inspiration and my floor with mess. But until then, the absolute BEST bit about my little space is that I get regular visits from my ins’paw’ational trio.

Alright, they mainly come for a sniff about and to be nosy.
It’s a tiny little space but I also intend for them to have somewhere to settle in here with me if they like.

Yes, Ellie… for you!

What do you think? Have I missed anything essential?

I’ve been extra busy this week doing the final bits and pieces to House of Pawed. It’s coming along nicely, mostly thanks to the pups making sure it does so. I took these shots of Inspector Ellie today, she keeps a close eye on things!

Black & White Sunday: My Little Helper

millie helps

I’ve been busy this weekend making window drapes for the ‘studio’. Millie clearly noticed how perplexed I was becoming, so she joined me to hold the tape measure. She plonked herself right in the middle of my freshly laid out, ready for pinning, fabric. Thanks Millie!

Lucky Little Blogger

This blog still feels so new to me, there are a couple of posts from back in 2012 when I had absolutely no idea what was going on was having a little play about. But really it’s only been the last few months that I started to feel settled and not panic as much about what I was posting. I didn’t imagine that anybody would actually read the gibberish I was spouting. So every comment, like or follow we receive is special to us. What’s more special though, are the friendships we have began to form with so many of you. We love reading about your adventures as much as we enjoy sharing our own.

So imagine our joy when in the past couple of weeks we have been given, not one, but TWO awards from our new friends. No, you can’t imagine, and that’s wise as it would probably burst your eardrums!

The lovely Melissa over at Barking from the Bayou was the very first person I connected with over on BlogPaws. We bonded over dressed-up Westies and last week she presented me with this:

Blog Award of Excellence

We were so happy I can’t tell you, Melissa also passed it on to lots of other lucky bloggers. This was great as it meant I could go visit them too, and make even more friends. Thank you Melissa!

Anyway, it doesn’t look like there are any rules attached to this award but we wanted to share it too, with some of our favorites. We decided to go for those we find particularly ‘excellent’ and always entertaining. It was here that I realised where the difficulty lies… I love ALL THE BLOGS. So, we’ve narrowed it down to a very short list. If you already have the award, please accept my apologies but I have seen some blogs were more than one of the same kind has been awarded and well, it’s a pretty lovely, shiny, gold number. It’s surely not a bad thing to have more than one? 😉

In no particular order, these are the blogs that make our tails wag furiously (yes, even my imaginary one) and who we would like to share this award with:
1/ Misaki – We adore the lovely Misaki; Myfie, Ellie and Millie reckon that if we lived closer she would be definitely be their sister-from-another-mister.
2/ Wiley – Wiley is so wise and lovely. His outlook is so positive you can’t help but smile.
3/ Oh My Shih Tzu – From one crazy Shih Tzu lady, to another
4/ Clowie – Clowie is one of our oldest friend around here, we love reading about her adventures, and serious issues too.
5/ Scottie Mom – Heather, Mr. K and friends are beautiful and Scottie Mom never fails to make us laugh.

Our lovely friend, Misaki awarded this to us and other UK bloggers that are in much need of some sunshine! Great idea, since we often find ourselves lacking in that department, even in the summer.

Because of this we Brits tend to get creative in how we find it. We would like to pass this award on to blogs that make our outlook sunny, whatever the weather:
1/ Barking from the Bayou – Melissa loves to write, and we love to read! Perfect for spreading happy!
2/ Animal Couriers – I think these guys might just have the best job in the world. They spread happiness and there’s more cute than you can shake a stick at.
3/ The Sundog Drift – Jo takes amazing photos and I often accuse her and her gorgeous furry friends of killing me with the. But it’s a lovely thing.
4/ We Live in a Flat – Another fabby blog about two of my favourite things; dogs and photos!
5/ Golden Woofs – Sugar the Golden Retriever’s blog never fails to make us smile. So much fun there!

All of these blogs are much bigger than our tiny little corner. However, if there are some you haven’t had the opportunity to visit yet, please do. You won’t be disappointed.

Hugs, Carrie (Myfie, Ellie and Millie) x
