Black & White Sunday: Winter Walkies

We love it here at Pawed Towers when true winter hits. We love walking in the darkness when the less braver souls come out to play. That’s just as well considering it gets dark so early this time of year. The pups seem, to me at least, to be more focused on what they are doing in the dark. It’s especially good for Ellie, she appears far less distracted and ready to bark at the littlest thing… of course, there is actually less out there to bark AT but that’s beside the point.

The bad thing is that photos are much harder to get, not only because of the light situation but because the pups seem far less inclined to stop what they’re doing and give me a little pose. Rude of them, I know!

Anyway, since this is what we have been doing a lot of lately we thought we’d share some of the photos with you… warts and all!

Ice Ice Myfie

Myfie seems to love the way that the ice crunches under his paws… I worry about his little pads, but apparently it’s fine for them to walk on!

Myfie Pee Mail

…and it doesn’t matter how cold it is there is always time to send and receive a but of pee-mail, right?

mucky myf bw

Myfie views the dirt he comes home with as a badge of honour!

Millie side ice

Millie is a proper little girlie, she likes to go out dressed to match the weather; sparkly top to match the sparkly ground!

millie sit ice

…and who cares if it’s cold? It makes the prettiest seat ever!

Sparkles are so much fun!

dark street

Do you ever wonder how much more than us pups can see?

ellie looks

Ellie loves to have a good look around on her evening walks!

elli look out

I sometimes wonder if she thinks she’s looking into the future!

ellie tongue!

Well, whatever she sees she looks happy about it, and you can’t ask for more than that!

Can anybody solve the riddle for us? Do you prefer a daytime or an evening stroll… and why?

    • Thanks lovely, ooh it’ll be like an adventure then!! Yes, all the pups have an Adidog but Millies are a little small for her now as she was a puppy when we got them. Heehee nooo, they aren’t from Adidas but we snapped them up when they went on sale because we were sure once Adidas DID catch on, they would be pulled. A few months later we got an email from the company asking for us to sign a petition because Adidas had issued a cease and desist notice… We’re all smart puppies around here though, and think that actually the company were very lucky that’s all they were asked and they weren’t sued!

  1. Great shots! the boys love any stroll..but at night around the property when the little critters are running around in the trees and the roos are stomping in the bush seems a lot more fun 🙂 loves BEV XXX

  2. oh your tongue is like a light in the night :o) we prefer daytime walks, the car drivers are evil at night and we try to avoid that easy cleans the streets while eating trash, roadkill and unidentified objects :o)

    • Oh boo to those naughty car drivers!! It sounds to me as though you live in maybe a more rural setting? Unfortunately for the pups we don’t see much trash or roadkill on our ventures!

    • Thanks you, Caren! Oh… if you do, let us know how it goes! I’d love to see if Dakota find it more interesting or distracting under the cover of darkness!

    • Hehe thank you, I would like to take credit but can’t… I learned via my friends in blogville that this IS in fact what attracts the pups to lamp-posts and trees. Thanks to that, I always let them stop just a little longer now! It’s admin 😀

Hi Carrie I love the photos. There really show the twilight & evening so well. when I had a dog (many many years ago) I enjoyed evening strolls the best. I was always rushing about during the day s the walks were not leisurely most of the time! Evening I could relax & let Rebecca or Bogart Sam take their time an have a good meander…..
Now I play “TAG” with a crazy Burmese kitten, lol….
    (((hugs))) Sherri-Ellen 🙂

    • Aww thank you for the nose kisses guys!! We send them right on back ❤ you know what the funny thing is? The pups go out in their jackets and jumpers, but I don't! I get far too hot 😀

Thanks so much, Sherri-Ellen! You're right, it really does feel much more leisurely walking in the evening once all the daytime business and stresses are out of the way! Sometimes it can be a little spooky, but I think we all prefer it! And I am totally jealous of Kitty tag! Hope you are well, my lovely! Thinking about you!! *cuddles*

Hi Carrie I used to always tell my hubby what route I was taking & how long I would be so if I was way over the time he could come looking for me. In the days b4 cell phones & GPS!!! How DID we manage??? HAHAHAHA…
wishing you well there & I hope the weather is not playing up!
        (((HUGS))) Sherri-Ellen

  4. hello pawedblog its dennis the vizsla dog hay yoo girls are stylin no matter the time or the seezon!!! persunaly i preefer to go walkies wenever and warever its kwiet so as i dont git skayrd by enny strayndjers!!! ok bye

    • Yes! Dennis! That’s exactly it… we don’t bump into any enemies, or a least fewer in the evening. It would be a great time for you to try methinks, but only if it is safe to do so near where you guys live!
      Hugs, Carrie and Pups x

  5. I love both. Daytime walks usually mean meeting friends, but evening walks means that bunnies and other creatures are about which could lead to fun chases – sadly I’m usually confined to the lead in the evenings

    • Ah yeah, that’s true for us too Misaki! No off-lead roaming time allowed on the night walks, because we usually are around the streets. Mum says it’s safer, but I would love to catch even a whiff of the bunnies you mention!!
