Black & White Sunday: Ready for Summer?

ready for summer

As we all know, yesterday (June 21st) was the first day of summer… Myfie isn’t such a fan of the summertime weather. The girls will happily spend all day outside in the garden, but he prefers a little more protection. A hat and some sunglasses are the most obvious choice… and that’s just for indoors!

When the pups are outside though, we make sure that the Westies have on sun screen, that there are always areas of shade and fresh drinking water available in various spots around the garden.
We also prefer them not to be out in peak times when the sun is at its hottest. And at some point we usually think it’d be fun to get them a paddling pool, so that they can cool off that way… but that only really goes down well with Ellie ‘the goose chaser’. Never mind, we can only keep trying.

Are your little ones fans of the sun? Or would they prefer extra protection like Myfie? If you have any tips for keeping cool and getting your pups ready for summer we’d love to hear those, too!

    • Haha aww Dennis, mama and dada are just making sure you don’t turn into hotdog!… I’m guessing with all the stuff that goes down at your place that wouldn’t be a very good thing at all, right?
Failing that, maybe you can borow dads long sleeves and hat?… like Myfie has!
      Hugs, Carrie and Pups x

  2. Wonderful Sunday photo!!!!! We usually go out early or late. None of the girls like the wading pool so it is shade and in when it starts heating up. Not much help I know. My brother’s Boston Terrier loves to swim in their pool and even has her own little cabana šŸ™‚

  3. Myfie you are looking sensational! Bentley LOVES to lie in the direct sun and then come inside and go belly up under the ceiling fan on the wood floor to cool off. It doesn’t make a lick of sense to me! Haha!

  4. I’m with Myfie, too much sun is not really the real mc coy. The streets are hot and I have to search for a cool place… seems I’m really a “shady” guy :o) btw: mom tried to land a real “bargain-coup” at ikea: she waited till saturday, because then the ” ikea midsummer sale ” starts everywhere in the world…. sadly everywhere means NOT france …. uhoh!

    • You’re right Easy, haha yep Myfie is a shady guy too šŸ˜‰
Oh nooo!! Poor mum… from what I know our Ikea ‘sales’ suck too! but that’s just not fair!! šŸ˜¦
      Hugs, Carrie and pups x

  5. Now that’s some serious style! Summer is a Ridgeback’s favorite season. With their short hair and thin coats, these two love the heat. The beach is best because it also lets Eko cool off in the water.

    • Haha thanks, Will! Ohh brilliant, so they are more than suited to the temperatures! When I think of it they are pretty much the polar opposite of my Millie aren’t they? She’s tiny and her hair is longer than a lot of humans!
I do wish my lot would embrace water for cooling off!
      Hugs, Carrie and pups x
